The problem

A small business site should feel personal, not underbuilt.

The challenge was to keep the experience simple enough for a small bakery while still giving the brand enough visual personality to feel trustworthy and memorable. The result prioritizes product discovery, straightforward content, mobile usability, and a warmer presentation.

The build also had to accommodate a real-world asset workflow, including product photography that does not always arrive in web-ready formats.

The approach

Keep the system small. Make the important parts feel finished.

Product-first layout

Products and imagery carry the page instead of forcing visitors through unnecessary marketing copy.

Mobile-minded

The experience is structured around the way customers are likely to browse a local bakery site: quickly and often from a phone.

Maintainable build

The site stays lightweight enough to update without requiring an oversized commerce stack for a straightforward operation.

Takeaway

Not every business needs more software.

The design decision was restraint: enough structure and polish to create confidence, without turning a small bakery into an enterprise platform. Union Works uses the smallest system that can do the job well.
