VETSOURCE
A mission-driven product concept built around one difficult reality: veterans often know help exists, but finding the right resource at the right moment can require too many searches, portals, and dead ends.
Resources are only useful if people can find and understand them.
VetSource is designed around the first year of civilian transition, when benefits, employment, housing, education, finances, healthcare, and personal support can all become active needs at once. The product concept prioritizes clarity over feature count.
A crisis pathway is treated differently from ordinary resource discovery: it must remain easy to find, fast to understand, and free from unnecessary navigation.
Organize around the veteran’s situation, not the institution providing the service.
Resources are grouped by user need so the veteran does not have to know which agency or organization owns the answer first.
The experience can surface relevant actions across the transition timeline instead of treating every resource as equally urgent.
Mental-health and crisis help remains persistently reachable rather than hidden inside a general wellness category.
Useful before impressive.
The product should feel calm, legible, respectful, and direct. Visual polish matters, but it serves navigation and confidence rather than becoming the point of the interface.
